Rivers state Commissioner for Education suspend the principal of GSS Borokiri

The Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Professor Chinedu Mmom, has suspended the Principal of Government Secondary School, Borokiri, Ella Ewoh.

Professor Mmom accused the principal of collecting money from external students in exchange for slots belonging to legitimate students who were to sit for their WAEC examinations.

Professor Mmom made this known while monitoring public schools where WAEC examinations are ongoing in the state.

The commissioner advised parents whose children were affected by the action of the suspended principal to take legal action.

He also said he got complaints that some principals are collecting as much as ten thousand naira for Math sets. He he however warned principals involved to stop or face sanctions.

Recall that some aggrieved parents of SS3 students of Community Secondary School, Borokiri in Port Harcourt, marched to the school to disrupt the ongoing WAEC Examination over the exclusion of the names of their children from the exam but the Nigerian Police led by the DPO of Bolokiri Police Division intervened.

Some of the aggrieved parents in an interview with our correspondent alleged that the names of their children who were supposed to be sitting for the WASSCE were replaced with the names of external candidates. They also said that they paid money to register their children for the WASSCE.
