PH Bus drivers: We are not happy introduction of palliative buses have affected our daily income

The commercial bus drivers in withing Port Harcourt the Rivers State capital and environs, have cried out over the frequent sight of palliative buses on the roads. The drivers expressed their dissatisfaction, stating that they are not happy whenever they see the palliative bus.

According to some of the drivers, the palliative bus is often given priority on the road, causing delays and traffic congestion. They also complained that the presence of the bus has affected their daily income, as passengers prefer to board the free palliative bus instead of paying for transportation.

One of the drivers, who identified himself as Mr. Chidi, said: "We are not happy any time we see the palliative bus. It causes traffic and delays on the road, and passengers prefer to board it instead of paying us for transportation. This is affecting our daily income."

Another driver, Mr. Emeka, added that the government should find a way to compensate commercial bus drivers who are affected by the palliative bus scheme.

The palliative bus scheme was introduced by the Rivers State government to provide free transportation for vulnerable citizens during the removal of fuel subsidy. However, the scheme has faced criticism from commercial bus drivers who feel that it is affecting their livelihood.
