Tricycle operators otherwise known as keke plying the Eagle Island / Agip route which is within Port Harcourt LGA and Obio-Akpor have accused the Police of compelling them to buy daily tickets at the cost of N300.
Note they these operators pay their daily tickets for two LGAs since their route is within Port Harcourt/ Obio-Akpor.
Some of the operators in a chat with journalists say they pay for the tickets on a daily basis alongside other tickets.
They said no operator is allowed to operate without paying for the tickets which they described as illegal.
Meanwhile, they have called on the state government to intervene and stop the extortion but nothing serious has been done according to one of the drivers except a few days ago were the police warned officers in Rivers state against extortion.
