Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara reaceived the Senate ad hoc committee on the non-completion of the East-West Road and the Eleme-Ogoni corridor visited him at the Government House in Port Harcourt the state capitalon Wednesday.
Governor Fubara asked the Senate to go beyond public hearing or blame game and ensure that the Eleme axis of the East-West Road is repaired as the committee members were in Port Harcourt to inspect the federal road.
Governor Fubara wondered why previous administrations failed to fix the road, despite the huge budgetary allocation.
He frowned on the long neglect of the road by the federalgovernment, despite access to critical economic infrastructures of the Nigeria government.
According to him, 10 local government areas were directly affected by the bad state of that stretch of the road and the Federal Government need to urgently Intervene.
Recall that the committee was set up by the Senate following a motion by Senator Barinada Mpigi who is from Rivers State and is representing Rivers south East senatorial district and others on the state of the East-West Road in the Niger Delta, with a special focus on the Eleme-Ogoni axis of the state.
