The Rivers state Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) has arrested two suspected oil pipeline vandals, along Egbema/Ndoni road, in Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government of Rivers state.

Parading the suspects at its headquarters in Omoku, on Sunday, the National Coordinator of CJTF, General Nwachukwu Adah said, the suspects were apprehended on patrol, when they were intercepted with the stolen items.

"Not only our brothers are behind this heinous crime, includeding others from faraway North. It is no more business as usual".

"We have put in place measures and intelligence garthering strategies in all Agip facilities, from Imo to Rivers states", he said.

According to General Nwachukwu, "anyone still involved in illegal oil bunkery and pipeline vandalism, should be prepared to face the music."   

He added that the suspects would be charged to court, for possible prosecution.

Meanwhile, the suspects, who identified themselves as Musa and Usman told journalists that, they are from Zaria in Kaduna state.

The national coordinator warned that the oil pipelines form part of federal government's critical infrastructure, and should not be tampered with.

He warned youths of the state, as well as non indigens to refrain from destroying pipelines, or embarking on oil bunkering.
